Airborne noise monitoring & Prediction

With an increased focus on environmental issues generally, one of the greatest sources of complaints to the regulatory authorities is noise. We provide a full range of services for measurement, analysis and control of noise. We are particularly experienced and well equipped to prepare Environmental Impact Statements.

Our Services

Environmental Noise Monitoring

wind noise.jpg (20668 bytes) Our noise level meters are all owned and operated exclusively for our own use, (no hiring in or out of instrumentation) and calibrated externally by NAMAS accredited laboratories. All our instrumentation complies with BS EN 61672. We utilise the latest proprietary and customised analysis and reporting software.

Our equipment is weatherproof, allowing an all-weather (subject to compliance with standards) monitoring capability.
We provide long-term and short-term monitoring capability according to the clients needs. We can provide a complete solution from a combined noise, dust and vibration monitoring capability on a continuous basis for sensitive sites to a short assessment survey where this is all that is required.

Noise Prediction modeling
SRBSnojpg.jpg (15354 bytes)Utilising a range of  software Biospheric Engineering Ltd. have extensive modeling and prediction capability.

Noise models can be created for industrial or transportation sources and utilising either the ISO 9613 or the CRTN method, noise predictions can be made for individual noise sensitive locations or for a grid in the vicinity of the noise source.

The calculations can be carried out to allow for attenuation due to distance in addition to meteorological, directivity, atmospheric, ground, screening and geometrical effects.

SRBSyes.jpg (17256 bytes)The software models can then be used to analyse a number of "what-if" scenarios at the design stage where the location of equipment, acoustic treatment and screening options can be evaluated. The resulting graphics can be utilised to illustrate the potential impacts and mitigation measures for Environmental Impact Statements.

The noise maps on this page illustrate the effect of mitigation measures on a large site in a rural area.
